While they are physically prosperous, he reminds them they are spiritually impoverished.

They were abounding in love, but had empowered false teachers in their communities.

This week we look at his statements to the church of Ephesus. By all account, the church in Ephesus is thriving, Jesus sees their works, their toil, their discernment. But his critique of them is that they have lost the love they had at first; both for God and their neighbor.
